Product Description

Available as individual units or pre-connected sets of 2 or 4 daisy-chained Blue Robotics Lumen Subsea Lights. Installation is straightforward with just a single penetrator required for your watertight enclosure. All connected lights respond to one signal input.

The Lumen Subsea Light delivers exceptionally bright LED illumination for ROVs, AUVs, and various underwater applications. Purpose-built for subsea use, it offers several key capabilities:

  • Full dimming control via PWM servo signal (1100-1900 μs)
  • Simple on/off operation without requiring a signal
  • Daisy-chain capability for connecting multiple lights through a single connection
  • Intelligent over-temperature protection ensures maximum brightness while remaining safe during air operation
  • Integrated M3 threaded mounting holes on the housing
  • Exponential brightness curve providing very low minimum output
  • Depth rated to 500m

Featuring a high-efficiency Cree XLamp LED, each light produces over 1500 lumens at 15 Watts — exceeding the brightness of most automotive headlights!! The 135-degree beam angle provides broad coverage in front of your ROV, with a colour temperature of 5700K matching standard dive and ROV lighting.

Beyond maximum brightness, the Lumen excels at very low output levels — essential for illuminating scenes without overexposing colours or washing out detail. The exponential brightness response makes adjustment intuitive and effective.

The rugged hard-anodized aluminium housing incorporates dual cable penetrators at the rear, enabling operation to 500m depth. A purpose-designed injection-moulded acrylic lens maintains consistent beam characteristics in both air and water. Two M3 threaded holes provide convenient mounting options.

For alternative uses such as dive lighting, the Lumen operates without a PWM signal — simply connect the yellow signal wire to the power wire to activate. Adding a switch makes this even more practical.

Compatible with 10-48V power inputs and 3-48V PWM signals, the light works seamlessly with popular controllers including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and PixHawk. Housing temperature reaches approximately 55°C (131°F) during air operation and remains considerably cooler underwater.

Caution: Avoid looking directly into this light to prevent potential eye injury.

Guides

Quick Start — On/Off Only (No Dimming)

  1. Connect the power wires to your power source:
    • Red: +10–48 volts
    • Black: Ground
  2. Connect the yellow signal wire directly to the power wire (or via a switch) to activate at full brightness.

Quick Start — Dimming with PWM Signal

  1. Connect the signal wire to the appropriate microcontroller pin:
    • Yellow: PWM (3–48 volts)
  2. Connect the power wires to your power source:
    • Red: +10–48 volts
    • Black: Ground
  3. Send a servo PWM pulse ranging from 1100 μs (off) to 1900 μs (maximum brightness).
